Access Science Activity

  1. Search in Access Science for a topic that you have learned about this year.
  2. Locate and look through a relevant article. At the bottom of the page, find “Links to Primary Literature”.
  3. Select one of these primary articles and save a copy of the citation.
  4. See if you can locate this article using the direct link or Quick Search. Is it available in full text or would you need to request it through Interlibrary Loan?

Database Comparison Activity

Search for the same keyword in Academic Search Ultimate and the database you've been assigned.

Answer the following questions for each  database:

  1. How many results do you get?
  2. Look through the first two pages of results in each database. How many results are duplicated?
  3. Are your results relevant?
  4. Do the articles look useful to you right now?
  5. What subjects are listed for your results in this database?
  6. Look at the advanced search. Are there any unique limiters available?
