By your sources combined, I am Captain Bibliography!
Back in the database, look for the tool to generate a citation. It usually looks like quotation marks.
Find the APA style citation. (Hint: It might not be the first one displayed.)
Paste the generated citation into the workbook on the Resources page.
Each team member should contribute one source for each of their characters to make a list of 4-5 sources.
As a team, edit your reference list. Each character has an assigned task below. If no one is playing Sam, whoever finishes their section first should take that role. Don't forget to make sure that the sources are listed alphabetically.

General Joe
Check that all names in the citation are Last name, Initial. [space] Initial.
More than one name? Separate each name with a comma, with an ampersand (&) before the last name.
In APA, up to 20 names are listed. "et al." is not used in the bibliography.

Quick Quincy
Check the date and the URL.
For scholarly articles, the date is usually just the year. The year goes in parenthesis, followed by a period.
Check the url. For scholarly articles, this is usually a DOI. If there's no DOI, use the URL in the address bar.

Academic Anne
Check the title of the article & journal.
Article titles are capitalized like a sentence. Just the first letter and proper nouns are capitalized. Articles are not italicized.
Journal titles are capitalized like a title, with all major words capitalized. Journals are italicized.

Judicious Julia
Check the volume and issue numbers.
Volume numbers follow the journal title, after a comma and a space. Volumes are italicized.
Issue numbers follow the volume number, no space. They go inside parenthesis. Do not italicize the issue numbers or the parenthesis.
Check to make sure the punctuation between each element is correct.

Specialist Sam
Verify the page numbers or article number. Check for any extra or missing information.
Page numbers follow the issue number, after a comma and a space. Include the whole page range, followed by a period.
If there are no page numbers, or your page range starts at 1, check for an article number. Article numbers are common in digital journals that don't have print versions, and they go in place of the page range. Write the word Article with a capital A, followed by the article number and ending with a period.
If all of the page ranges/article numbers look okay, look over the whole citation to check for any extra or missing information.

Will you accept this side quest? If you've finished with your bibliography, but the expedition isn't ready to move on, this quest is for you!
Write an example in-text citation for each article in your bibliography.
Most APA in-text citations follow this format: (Author's Last Name, Year).
(Smith, 2025).
(Smith & Garcia, 2022).
(Smith et al., 2024).
If you still have time, open the APA Citation Quick Guide linked under the instructions for step 10. In-text citations are on page two.
